In the first half hour (special early 6:30pm est start) of the show we will break down the Capitals week where they went 2-1. They won the first two games of the week on the road vs the New York Islanders and Carolina. They then dropped the second half of the back to back on Saturday to Montreal. The caps had won 6 games in a row up til that point. We will also talk about how red hot the Metro is and take a look at the week ahead for the caps. They will play at Philly on Wednesday (Rivalry Night on NBCSN) and at home vs Tampa Bay on Friday. We will break down both of those games too.
At the end of our first half hour we will get into some Wizards news where they matched last weeks great 3-1 record. They lost the first game of the week vs the Heat, a game we covered live on last weeks show. The Wizards then won the next 3 games all at home starting with beating division leading Charlotte. They then followed that up with victories over Detroit on Friday and the LA Clippers on Sunday (where Beal went for 41). We will preview Mondays matchup in Indiana and give updates on the score throughout the rest of the podcast. The Wizards will have a tough week having to goto Chicago and Milwaukee on Wednesday and Friday. After that we hope to have some time for week 16 picks to finish out the action packed first 45 minutes.
After that it is all Redskins. We will run you right up to gametime and take your calls with predictions on how this pivotal night will go against Carolina. If we have time we might get into previewing their matchup vs the Bears, as they will have to play them on a short week. We will end the show at kickoff so you wont miss a moment of the game. In hour two we will talk about the Redskins huge victory over the Eagles keeping their season alive. Update: The second hour was so much fun. We talked Washington Redskins and gave updates on the Washington Capitals as they were able to tie the game and then went down 2-1 again. But we were able to tie the game late and win it in OT (after the show as over). We also gave updates on the Brooklyn Nets v. Washington Wizards game. It was great to have so many people in the Man Cave (Carroll, Arun and Michael Edgley (Who Dat Mike)). And on the phone by Daniel William Evans Jr. (Dan the Man; the sith lord) and by Maurice Hawkins (Hawk Diesel). We have a very exciting show for week 28 of Sports on the Hill Podcast. We will start with breaking down the Caps week in the first 30 minutes. We will talk about being at the disappointing Caps loss on Election night. It was Robbie's first game of the season and he will break the game against the Sharks all down with Carroll. We will then talk about the exciting victory in Chicago on Friday. Unfortunately they didn't play as well on Saturday when they lost the second half the back to back in Carolina.
In our second half hour we will discuss the up and down week for the Wizards. When we last left you in OT in Episode 27 the Wizards had lost a close game against the Rockets. They would then go on to win a game against the Celtics by a wide margin later that week. Unfortunately to end the week they played back to back games against Cleveland and in Chicago in which they lost both. We will break down all those games and then preview the week ahead for the Wizards. They will play a bunch of teams who have also underperformed in the first few weeks of the season.
In the second hour we will break down the important and very exciting win for the Redskins. It ended up being a closer game then many Redskin's fans would have wanted but they still brought home the W against a very good Vikings team who has played very badly the last few weeks. We will also preview the next Redskins game vs the Green Bay Packers next Sunday night. To end the night we will make some predictions for next week and take a look at how last week's NFL predictions paned out. We have another busy show this week. Our Halloween Episode will have a ton of different topics. In our first half hour we will talk about the Capitals road trip in Canada. We will update our listeners with how they played against Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary. We will also preview this weeks games including a home and home series with the Jets on Tuesday and Thursday and a home game vs the Florida Panthers next Saturday.
In our second half hour we will talk about the DC United first round playoff exit and the big World Series win for the Cubs last night to avoid elimination (series is now Cle 3-2). We will also talk about the rough start to the season for the Washington Wizards. They fell last night in OT and have been out scored at the end of the last 2 games. In Atlanta it was a bad 4th quarter (33-19) that doomed them and in Memphis they were outscored in OT 12-3. We will break down both games and preview this weeks home games vs Toronto on Wednesday and rematch vs Atlanta on Friday. They will then have a quick road trip to Orlando on Saturday before the home game a week from Monday against Houston, that we will be covering live next week.
Our second hour we will discuss the Redskins first game in London. The first ever OT game in London remarkably ended in a tie. There was a lot of missed opportunities in this game including missed field goals by both teams and even a missed extra point for Cinn. We will break down what this means going into the bye week. It will be an important few games as they continue to fight for the last playoff spot.
In second hour we will celebrate our first victory Monday for theWashington Redskins. Carroll will also give us his thoughts on yesterday’s big win which he also write a great article about. We hope to have some of you call in and give us your thoughts on the huge win as well. We will also preview the next game against the Browns.To end the show we will continue to talk about the World Cup of Hockey. We will talk about how disappointing it was for many of our Capitals players as Holtby is the only capital who made it to the finals. Team USA Hockey was particularly disappointing losing all 3 games. We will recap who made it to the semifinals and then also break down the upcoming final 3 game series that will be starting tomorrow night in Toronto. He will break down both series and take a look at how the Nats are doing in the standings. We will also preview this weeks games against the Marlins and Pirates. In the second half hour we will talk about how the Orioles are doing in the American League as they battle for the AL wild card. The first thing we will get into is how the Nats have done the last 2 weeks since our last podcast. We are not going to go into as much depth as we usually do in our first hour since the MNF game between our beloved Redskins and the hated Pittsburgh Steelers will start shortly after. We will be breaking the game down as it happens and giving our thoughts play by play. During each commercial break of the football game we will do a game break topic. Our game break topics for the first quarter will be all baseball and football. We will continue our conversation about the Nationals and have live look-ins to tonight’s game with the Mets. We will also recap the very close wild card situation in the american league for the Baltimore Os. We will take a look at how they are faring against the division leading Red Sox who they currently trail by 2 games. We will also break down how other games went during the very busy first NFL Sunday of 2016. We will take it a step further in the second quarter by going Facebook Live during our MNF simulcast. We will continue to cover the Redskins, Nationals and Os games. During the commercial breaks we will also be previewing next Sunday's Cowboy’s game. We will also talk about how DC United has done the last 2 weeks and talk about the world cup of hockey. Robbie actually plans to goto an exhibition game for team USA Tuesday at the Verizon Center (with 2 Caps on the team) that he hopes to talk about if we have time.
